Michelle Mercer is a proud Canadian mother of three grown children and a very special little granddaughter. Her greatest joy in life has always been raising her family with unconditional love, strong values, and a deep belief in each child’s uniqueness. She’s the kind of mom who believes in loving her children exactly as they are – without needing them to be anything other than their authentic selves.
Inspiring Young Minds to Shine Bright
Michelle originally wrote Perfectly Patty back in 2002, during a time when her daughter was preparing for a big life transition…living at mom’s house and living at dad’s house.. Worried that her daughter might miss out on the everyday guidance, comfort, and life lessons she held so close, Michelle wrote the book as a way to still be present… even when she couldn’t physically be there. She hoped it would become a tool. A gentle reminder of everything she wanted her daughter to carry in her heart: self-love, bravery, kindness, and the truth that she was already perfect just as she was.
Timeless Wisdom, Growing Hearts
Michelle affectionately calls herself the “Book Mom,” stepping into the pages to help children feel seen, loved, and supported, no matter what they’re going through. Life delayed the publishing of Perfectly Patty’s Colourful Imagination. for many years, but in the winter of 2024, the calling returned stronger than ever. Michelle realized that now, more than ever, children need reminders that they can be confident, creative, and compassionate – even in a world filled with noise and distraction.

She believes stories like Patty’s can offer children an alternative to screen time, a chance to slow down, imagine, and build the emotional tools they need to thrive.
